Hippocampus Magazine congratulates Kelly Shire, winner of the first HippoCamp scholarship, made possible by an anonymous donor. The scholarship competition was two-fold – the conference committee considered an application and an essay, with the theme ‘writing lessons learned’.
The decision was tough. Everyone who submitted an application demonstrated financial need and had solid reasons for wanting to attend a professional development writing conference, and many of the writing life essays were compelling and informative.
Kelly’s skillful winning essay, “Watching the Clock,” will appear in a future edition.
We’d also like to recognize our two partial-scholarship recipients, Stephen Barker and Amy Miller; their essays also will appear in future issues. We look forward to meeting Kelly, Stephen and Amy this August at HippoCamp 2016.
